Hello October,

I have missed you (as much as one can miss a month at least). This year marks the return of 31 Days of Halloween, a journey I started last year which chronicles the everyday musings of this whimsical season. A new year marks new changes for this season’s passage. This year I’m working and will have less time for extravagant ventures, tho I still plan on eating myself into a sugar coma, dressing up, and seeking out all kinds of thrills. They will just be less frequent (I know, I know, try and stifle the tears). However, everyday will still be filled with something to celebrate my favorite month whether it be a story, poem, a recipe, or an adventure. With that being said, let the festivities begin :)

Day 31

Halloween

Halloween night is finally here! The day started out a bit stressful when the power went out at my house for half the day! But tonight I dressed up as Rapunzel again only this time, I did the version of her where her hair is all braided and full of flowers. It took me 2 hours to do but it was worth it to see the look on the younger trick or treaters faces. Some of the little girls gasped when they saw me and exclaimed "Rapunzel!" I had a Pasqual doll saftey pinned to my shoulder which all the boy trick or treaters kept saying they really liked. I got lots of compliments and it was a lot of fun, seeing that magic feeling for some of the littler kids that I was really Rapunzel brought to life. It made my night that they recognized me and got so excited about it. It made me feel like I wanted to work at Disneyland as a princess there.

After passing out some candy for a while, I went to a friends house for a Halloween party where we danced, ate candy, told stories, and watched the movie, "The Fourth Kind" (super freaky btw). I didn't have a camera so I only had my phone to use to take photos. But it was an amazing night and an amazing month. Thanks again to all who participated with me this month and tuned in to this blog. May the next year bring you joy and excitement, and happy Halloween :)

Day 29

Series Premiere of Grimm

The fairy tales have always fascinated me in a haunting sort of way cautionary tales usually do, and I"m not talking about the so-called "Disney/happy ending" versions, I'm talking about the real stories how they were originally written. That's why when I saw the previews for a new show called Grimm, I knew I had to check it out. I know, I know, the premiere was yesterday, but since I was occupied all day (i.e. the dance), the Grimm premiere is my day 29. So far I'm loving the premise. Every episode features a case inspired from one of the over 200 Grimm fairy tales in a modern day setting. Oh and p.s. it's filmed near Portland, OR, which is only my hometown! (Portland has been making a name for itself in the film and television industry the last few years, just to brag ;)) I hope it does well because I think it has a lot of promise.

Day 28

Halloween Dance Take 2

Massive dance. Awesome costumes. Halloween. Go.

We got invited to a MAJOR Halloween dance in Rancho Cordova. It was the biggest party for all Northern CA YSA's. I went as...

 Rapunzel from Disney's "Tangled!"

The process wasn't as hard as you might think. I bought a grip (yes I said grip!) of hair extensions (to go with my newly dyed blonde hair, though some of the pieces were soo blonde that they made my hair look duller in comparison. But you get the gist). And the main dress I borrowed from a friend. It worked out pretty fantastically if I do say so myself.

I knew months ago that I might want to be her at some point this year. Then my friends Vicky and Maggie, and I decided if would be fun to all go as Disney princess's/character. My brother came with us too as a
lumberjack.

Vicky was Cinderella and Maggie was a Muse.

We had a fantastical time :)

Day 26

Admire Pumpkin Handiwork

Today I stumbled upon some amazing pumpkin carvings and I realized what an art form it truly is. I didn't get to carve a pumpkin of my own this year. Sigh. But I love seeing what others can do with their pumpkins. Here are some favorites of mine:

(for Maggie!)

I don't know how they do it! The Gollum one wasn't one of my favorites but I had to slide it in there to rep my LOTR love ;)

Day 25

Pirates of Emerson

What is pirates of Emerson you might ask? Well it's only the greatest haunted house attraction this side of the west coast! (no really, it was rated one of the best haunted houses on travel channel). This year was my fourth year in a row going. It's become a tradition that I always look forward to. This year we had 3 Pirates virgins with us. Here's how it all went down:
